Why Quantity Wins in the Algorithm Game

I’m firmly in the quantity camp. Here’s why:

  • Virality is unpredictable. You can follow the perfect formula (hook → build → reveal), but the “hook” that resonates can’t be predicted.
  • More shots = more chances. The more you post, the more opportunities you give the algorithm to push your content.
  • Strategy ≠ guaranteed engagement. Spending hours perfecting one video rarely outperforms posting several “good enough” videos consistently.

Think about it: how many average videos have you scrolled past that blew up? And how many high-quality videos never crossed your feed at all?

The Best Posting Cadence for Growth

You might assume daily posting is best. Not quite.

The sweet spot? 3–4 posts per week.

Why?

  • Posting every day risks being flagged as spam.
  • Posting too little makes you look inactive.
  • Posting a few times a week strikes the right balance of visibility and consistency.

How to Make Quantity Easier

Posting multiple times a week doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Here’s how to make it work:

  • Build series around proven hooks. Once you find a theme that resonates, spin it into multiple episodes. (My series Nobody Cares turned into three viral hooks: Nobody cares about your details, nobody cares if you’re not good enough, nobody cares about your email.)
  • Use AI tools. Draft captions, generate ideas, or repurpose long-form content into short clips.
  • Set a time limit. Don’t spend more than an hour on a single post. Done > perfect.

But Doesn’t Quality Still Matter?

Yes—quality still matters, but only to a point.

High-quality content often gets buried because the algorithm favors consistency and engagement over polish. The New York Times even reported on countless brilliant videos that never gained traction.

So instead of obsessing over perfection, focus on:

  • Relevance: Is this useful, interesting, or entertaining to your audience?
  • Clarity: Can your point be understood in the first 5 seconds?
  • Authenticity: Does it sound like you?

That’s the minimum “quality bar” to hit. Beyond that, quantity rules.
